I have to confess that until recently I didn’t give fashion colors much, if any, thought. I always dress in colors that I like and that seem to complement my style. But then I came across “the color of the year” as decreed by the Pantone Color Institute ®. Apparently they are the ultimate color gurus and wield enough power to determine which colors are to be loved by the fashion and design world for that entire year!
After last year’s “Radiant Orchid”, which seemed to have a somewhat tepid reception in the design world, I am jubilant about this years’ choice: MARSALA
According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®, it is a “hearty yet stylish tone that is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
I wholeheartedly agree. Because when I look at Marsala, I see copper, patina copper – one of my very favorite materials to turn into jewelry. I feel as though the heavens have parted and are finally ready to give this terrific shade the glory it so undoubtedly deserves!
So, let’s take a look-see what the internet has to offer all things Marsala. The popular beauty retailer Sephora interprets it like this.
A quick search on Etsy yields a treasure trove of Marsala themed, beautiful and affordable goodies like this simple infinity scarf:
or this drop dead gorgeous crystal pendant:
Don’t you just love this stunning cuff?
Wouldn’t it be a perfect accessory with this gorgeous, hand printed dress?
And at the end of a long hard day rest your head on a comfy pillow:
Now I am pretty motivated to create with it! Stay tuned. What do you think of the concept of a color of the year? Are you planning to incorporate it into your wardrobe or home furnishings? I would love to hear what your thoughts are!
